Papers of Marcus Joseph Wright, 1872-1901.

The collection contains an annotated carbon copy, 1911, of Wright's manuscript of "General officers of the Confederate Army"; a letter, 1872 March 14, Braxton Bragg to Wright re his appointments to the Confederate Army; a letter, 1880 August 3, Wright to George Washington Custis Lee seeking assistance in obtaining some Robert E. Lee papers held by Charles Marshall; and a letter, 1880 August 24, G.W.C. Lee to Marshall explaining he informed Wright that Marshall needed his Robert E. Lee papers for his own historical research. With these is Ezra J. Warner's annotated copy of "General officers of the Confederate Army" used for his own 1959 study, "Generals in gray."
